EBT Heart Scan Saves Lives
We would like to share a few real life stories from some of our patients who have been gracious enough to share their experiences, strengths, and hopes with us. There was a point in time when none of them believed that “this would ever happen to me”. But, it did happen to them. And, in each case, it all started with an EBT Heart Scan. Click on their links at the right to read “the rest of their stories….”
Lisa G – One Scan Was Not Enough
Lisa G. has been the “Poster Child” for EBT Heart Scans for the past 4 years. Many of us are familiar with the story about her first, fortuitous heart scan. Although that first scan was effective in preventing an almost certainly eminent coronary event, it was the series of EBT heart scans that followed that have saved Lisa’s life.
Terry K. – Healthy Living for 20 Years
Terry K. is 54 years old and has been actively treating hyperlipidemia with diet, medications, and exercise for 21 years. He was acutely aware of his significant family history of heart problems. He thought his proactive lifestyle was effectively managing his risk factors. A timely change to an enlightened physician, prompted by a new girlfriend’s urging, literally saved Terry’s life.
Anne Q.: No One is Exempt
It didn’t take a lot of convincing for Anne to realize she was at great risk of having her own heart attack. Her father died of a heart attack at 53, one brother died at 51, and another brother died at 59. With her family history, and a husband who was very fit, healthy lifestyle, and a former marathon runner, Anne became very proactive in monitoring her own heart health. However today, it is Anne who is telling Tom’s story.
Steve J. – Incidental Findings
Steve had his first heart scan at age 59. It showed some coronary calcium, or plaque, in his arteries. Fortunately it looked like the calcium had been found early enough that Steve and his physician agreed it best to start on medical treatment. What was surprising, however, was the small nodule that the EBT heart scan found on Steve’s right lung.
