We encourage doctors to learn about the
recent advances in preventive cardiology and imaging in
order to effectively utilize EBT scanning technology. We
also invite individuals to make an appointment at our center
on a self-referred basis for preventive screening.
In addition to assisting in the early
diagnosis of coronary artery disease, EBT scans provide an
excellent measure of effectiveness of treatment of
atherosclerosis. Studies have shown that the coronary scan
by EBT is an effective way for doctors to make correct
decisions about lifelong preventive therapy for individual
patients. In addition, our test can help interpret other
cardiac tests and assist in the diagnoses of late
obstructive disease. In fact, our center can even perform
noninvasive cardiac angiograms —we are now encouraging
cardiologists to learn this procedure.
Our medical consultant, Dr. William Shiovitz,
has practiced Internal Medicine for over 25 years and
understands the issues surrounding the diagnosis and
treatment of atherosclerosis and is expert in interpreting
the results of EBT calcium scores. Dr. Shiovitz is
available for consultation with patients or physicians
regarding the use and interpretation of EBCT heart scans.
We also benefit from the expertise of Dr.
Jim Erhlich, the medical director of Colorado Heart and Body
Imaging who routinely lectures to physicians in Colorado and
worldwide about the correct use and interpretation of our
tests and has published materials including a chapter in a
recent textbook for physicians. He is a founder of the
Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging and keeps current in all
trends in this field.
We recommend that you review the results of
your test with your own doctor. If you do not have a doctor
who understands this area of medicine, we would be glad to
refer you to a local physician who can help you.
